Details and information about Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 are piling up, thanks largely to players’ new hotline to Activision. One question a lot of fans of the series have has finally been answered. So will MW3 have Zombies?

Is Zombies in Modern Warfare 3?

Yes, there will be a Zombies mode in Modern Warfare 3. As part of the build up to MW3, the CoD community has been invited to text with Activision, with the devs revealing a few details about the upcoming title in covert and intriguing ways. For example, we know that traditional red dots on the minimap will return after they were confirmed via messaging with Activision.

Now, on August 16, players texted to ask whether Zombies would feature in MW3. In response, players are sent a zombie emoji that is also a hyperlink.

Following the link takes players to an Activision audio page, in which classic CoD zombie noises can be heard. It’s the same sinister groaning and growling that veterans of the franchise will love. For others, it’ll be the tingle down the spine that confirms the undead are closing in.

There were doubts over MW3 boasting Zombies, with the undead mode typically featuring in Treyarch (the mode’s creators way back in Call of Duty: World at War) and Sledgehammer Games. Because MW3 acts as a direct sequel to MW2, which doesn’t have Zombies, players were unsure as to whether SHG would rekindle their inclusion of the mode. Now, we know they will.

It’ll be the first Modern Warfare game to have Zombies, with neither of its predecessors in the rebooted trilogy having a mode. Resultantly, we do not know the exact form it’ll take. However, we expect a series of maps, the classic round-based survival mode and a bunch of easter eggs to find and explore.

That’s everything we know about whether Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 will feature Zombies mode. We’ll be sure to update this page as more is revealed. In the meantime, check out the related content below.
