Like they were in the first Warzone, sniper rifles are players’ go-to weapon when they need to take down an enemy at ultra long-range. Thanks to Season 3, they’re largely able to one-hit and even those that don’t can be deadly. Here, we’re ranking the top five best snipers in Warzone Season 5.

Season 5, among its new maps, modes and operators, also introduced a new semi-automatic sniper rifle in the Carrack .300. While it wasn’t in our top five straight away, it’s found its way into this list as players recognize the advantages its semi-automatic rate of fire represents.

Some post-S5 changes saw a slight nerf to the Signal 50, with some of its damage profiles reduced. It’s quickly become the most popular sniper in Warzone, despite its inability to one-hit kill. To see whether it holds on to first place, scroll on.

5) Victus XMR

The Victus XMR is stuck in fifth place because of its speed (or lack thereof). It’s a very sluggish sniper rifle, relying on its user to be set up in a strong position. Preferably, you’ll already be ADS as well.

Being caught unawares will likely see you eliminated, increasing the imperative for a strong SMG or AR as your secondary. Equip attachments that speed it up and capitalize on its incredible power, like the ones we’ve detailed below:

  • Barrel: Mack 8 33.5 Super
  • Laser: VLK LZR 7MW
  • Grip: Bruen G305
  • Stock: XRX Rise 50
  • Ammunition: .300 Incendiary

4) Carrack .300

As mentioned above, the new Carrack .300 debuts on this list a few weeks after its implementation. It’s not as powerful as the other semi-auto sniper on this list – the Signal 50 – but it thrives off the back of its fire rate.

We recommend extended mags to make sure you have the power necessary to take out multiple enemies and their armor, alongside the other attachments to keep it snappy, accurate and reliable:

  • Ammunition: .300 High Velocity
  • Muzzle: Demon Helix T7
  • Stock: Carrack Ops Stock
  • Magazine: 15 Round Mag
  • Rear Grip: TV Naught

3) FJX Imperium

Only introduced in Season 3, we’ve bumped the FJX Imperium down to the bronze medal spot. It’s essentially a boosted SP-X; quick, forgiving and powerful. We once had it as our favorite sniper in the game, a status it’s lost as more powerful or faster-firing alternatives edge ahead of it.

We think extended mags and the Field-Wrapped Handle are the most important attachments to have because of the boosts they provide to handling, as well as the reduction in reload frequency. It takes it as close as possible to MW2 2009’s original Intervention:

  • Stock: FJX Lux-7
  • Rear Grip: Skull-40
  • Magazine: 7 Round Mag
  • Ammunition: .408 Incendiary
  • Carry Handle: Field-Wrapped Handle

2) MCPR-300

Imagine the Victus and FJX have spawned a sniper baby (sorry) and it’s the MCPR. There’s much more speed than the Victus and more damage than the FJX, meaning it occupies a sweet spot that no other sniper does.

Incendiary rounds make it even more formidable, as does the FSS MERC Stock. We’ve moved it down to second place in Season 5, not because it’s lacking but because our pick for first place is just so crazy. Here are your best MCPR-300 attachments:

  • Barrel: 22” OMX 456
  • Ammunition: .300 Incendiary
  • Grip: CRONEN ZERO Rear Grip
  • Stock: FSS MERC Stock
  • Muzzle: FTAC Reaper

1) Signal 50

The Signal 50 once dominated CoD’s battle royale. It was then knocked by one-hit changes, making it one of the few snipers that couldn’t drop a fully-armored enemy in a single shot.

However, it’s shown resilience we never dreamed of to bounce back as the best sniper in Warzone. It stays that way, even taking into account slight damage nerfs that came during S5.

Its fire-rate is more or less unmatched, letting you pin down enemies and eliminate numerous quicker than any other sniper. There is recoil to combat, as well as a need to speed up aspects of its handling. We’ve got both covered with our recommended build which makes it comfortably the best sniper in Warzone right now:

  • Barrel: 29″ TV Kilo-50
  • Muzzle: Nilsound 90
  • Rear Grip: SA Finesse Grip
  • Ammunition: .50 Cal High Velocity
  • Stock: FSS Echo Stock
