The arrival of Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 on Nov. 10, 2023, is expected to be preceded by a Beta, giving players access to the 2023 title ahead of its full release. Betas also give the devs time to refine gameplay aspects and make adjustments based on player feedback. Here’s when we expect it to be live, how players access it, and what content will be included.
MW3 Beta Release Date
According to the Call of Duty official Twitter, you can expect MW3 Open Beta/Early Access with the following platforms:
Platforms | Early Access Dates | Open Beta Dates (Free) |
PlayStation (Weekend One) | Oct. 6 – Oct. 7 | Oct. 8 – Oct 10 |
All Platforms (Weekend Two) | Oct. 12 – Oct. 13 (PlayStation Open Beta included) | Oct. 14 – Oct. 16 |
PlayStation users will receive Modern Warfare 3 Early Access on Weekend One, followed by an Open Beta shortly after (including Multiplayer Beta.) Then, everyone can join in on the fun on Weekend Two, starting with Early Access for Xbox and PC players and Open Beta for PlayStation.
Like previous events, you can expect the Open Beta or Early Access to launch at 10 a.m. PT on the corresponding dates, ending around the same time once it ends.
How to Access MW3 Beta
Players can gain early access to Modern Warfare 3 during the free Open Beta weekends (mentioned above.) You can also get the Early Access version by pre-ordering or pre-purchasing MW3 to get a head start. Keep in mind that you don’t need to pre-order the game to participate in the Open Beta phase, as this is not required during this period.
Xbox users do not need a Live Core Subscription during Weekend 2 Open Beta, but they will need access to online features once MW3 officially releases. Those pre-ordering the Vault edition will earn various rewards, such as the Nemesis Operator Pack, two Weapon Vaults, and Blackcell ‘+30 Additional Tier Skips.’
Modern Warfare 3 Beta Expected Content
The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 Multiplayer Open Beta will feature 16 revamped versions of MW2’s (2009) maps. You can expect the return of many beloved destinations like Terminal, Rust, Wasteland, and Scrapyard. But if you want the complete overview, you can check out our guide on all the revealed MW3 maps so far.
You can anticipate new experiences, specifically with Ground War, as well as modes and loadout selections. However, players will need internet access to participate, and Carry Forward content cannot be accessed in the Beta.
There isn’t too much information regarding the details of the event, so we’ll need to see what other elements could arrive as time progresses.
